Roly's Fudge Pantries set to celebrate National Fudge Day - Buy Fudge Online | Roly's Fudge
Roly’s Fudge Pantries across the country are set to celebrate National Fudge Day, taking place on 16th June 2016.
Believe it or not, National Fudge Day isn’t made up by Roly’s Fudge! No one knows quite where Fudge Day came from. However, the earliest mention of ‘fudge’ is found in a letter written by a resident of New York, talking about fudge being made and sold in Maryland in 1886. It’s often said that ‘fudge’ got its name from a toffee recipe being fudged – and so, fudge was born!
Therefore on National Fudge Day, our Roly’s Fudge Pantries are celebrating everything that’s good about fudge. Our fudge recipe comes from the founder’s grandmother, a recipe which was likely passed down generations. Roly’s Fudge strives every day to stick to the very best of its handmade and traditional roots, and continues to be made in copper cauldrons and prepared on our marble slabs in full view of customers. Our shops make a wide variety of fudges based on the traditional ‘Vanilla’ recipe, all using as natural and classic ingredients as possible – from real walnuts and maple syrup in our Maple and Walnut Fudge, to juicy raisins and dark rum in our Rum ‘n’ Raisin Fudge.
So what are our Roly’s Fudge Pantries celebrating this National Fudge Day?

Roly’s Fudge Salisbury launches ‘Fudgehenge’
Our Roly’s Fudge Pantry on Salisbury High Street has unveiled ‘Fudgehenge’ to mark National Fudge Day. The ‘stones’ are made from the fudge pantry’s traditional Vanilla Clotted Cream Fudge. Fudgehenge is on display in the shop window.
Steven, co-owner of Roly’s Fudge Salisbury with Sarah, told their local radio station Spire FM the story of ‘Fudgehenge’:
“Stonehenge is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the UK and is less than 10 miles away, with many people combining a visit to both the famous prehistoric site with a visit to the cathedral built in 1220. We thought ‘Fudgehenge’ would be an amusing point of interest for the thousands of international visitors that will flock past our window this summer on their way into Salisbury Cathedral.”
What else are we celebrating on National Fudge Day? Roly’s Fudge has opened seven shops so far in 2016
We have hit new Roly’s records by opening seven shops across the country this year. First up we opened two new Roly’s Fudge Pantries at the start of the year: Roly’s Fudge Keswick in the Lake District, and Roly’s Fudge Weymouth in Dorset. We then opened two fudge shops in Dartmouth and Plymouth, both in Devon, at the start of Easter. In May 2016 alone, we have opened in Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, Truro in Cornwall, and Stow-in-the-Wold in Gloucestershire.
Don’t forget, of course, our shops in Arundel and Exmouth are reopening for the season, with Roly’s Fudge Arundel reopening on Friday 17th June. We also have a couple of moves: our shop in Dawlish moved to Teignmouth, and our Newquay shop moved up the road to be right in the heart of the town.
