We are excited to announce that Roly’s Fudge has won not 1, not 2 – but 8 Great Taste Awards. 

 

After winning 5 Great Taste awards last year, as well as 13 Taste of the West awards earlier this year, it’s an honour to have won four 2* awards and 4 1* awards for eight decadent fudge flavours.

The winning flavours were made in the heart of Devon by our dedicated fudge chefs, using the same recipe made in each and every one of our family-run fudge pantries across the country.

Meet the winning flavours…

The winning flavours this year are:

 

Butterscotch – 2* 

Judges noticed the “lovely balance between smoothness of fudge and dryness of tablet with a creamy result” and called this flavour “dangerously moreish”. Another said that they “simply want to eat the lot!”

Coffee & Cream – 2*

Our Coffee & Cream fudge also won over the judges who remarked that:

“there is a delicate aroma of coffee and there is cream on the nose. On tasting it is the perfect match between soft fudge and grainy, hard tablet.

It melts to creamy coffee with buttery notes and a gentle sweetness. The coffee is perfectly balanced. Two of us are not keen on coffee-flavoured sweets but this is delicious.

We think this is an excellent fudge and worthy of two stars. Well done. Moreish to the last nibble!”

Salted Maple & Pecan – 2*

This flavour has historically impressed the judges, winning awards for the last 3 years. It was only introduced four years ago, and this flavour has fully made its mark in the Roly’s Fudge family.

This year, we received this lovely feedback:

“A melt in the mouth fudge with a good melt and plenty of sweet maple notes which start to develop. The pecans are crisp and taste fresh. The touch of salt is well measured. The maple adds more than just sweetness – it adds character.”

Salted Caramel Fudge Sauce – 2*

 

Our fudge sauce wins a Great Taste award for the first time – and we are so happy it received 2 stars from the judges. We pride ourselves on the fact that our fudge is all lovingly homemade and this was an element that was picked up by the judges who said:

“We are impressed with the consistency and it feels like it’s home-made. We would buy this product.”

Vanilla Clotted Cream – 1*

“Good rustic appearance to this fudge and judges like the creamy buttery mouthfeel. The flavour is clean and bright with a short lived intensity of complex flavour.”

 

Rum ‘n’ Raisin – 1*

“Big rough chunks, generous size. Juicy raisin and clearly real rum not essence. Wonderful texture, not granular like some tablet. Light, scarily easy to eat a lot of! Really good!”

 

Chocolate Orange – 1*

“Good rustic chunks of fudge, soft and easy to eat. The orange flavour is very well balanced with the chocolate and the texture is melt-in-the-mouth. Good quality ingredients, well made.”

 

Ginger – 1*

“The texture is great, and the product has real visual appeal. The ginger is a good counter to the fudgy sweetness, providing warm undertones which stay right through to the long buttery finish.”

 

We have been entering these awards since 2013, and these additions bring our total to 64 awards from Taste of the West and Great Taste – 25 total at Great Taste.
